Services – Materials Testing

Sequoia provides both field and laboratory materials testing service solutions to the construction industry. The process starts with our Field Materials Testers conducting field sampling and testing of the materials and subsequently the Laboratory Materials Testers completing the testing of same to assure conformance to project requirements.

Sequoia maintains 12,000 SF full service laboratory and office facilities at its headquarters in Orange, CA. The facility is accredited by AASHTO Materials Reference Laboratory (AMRL) and International Accreditation Service (IAS) for ISO/IEC 17025, inspected by Cement Concrete Reference Laboratory (CCRL) and certified by Caltrans, Army Core of Engineers and the City of Los Angeles.

The laboratory houses high end testing equipment including a 500,000 Lbs. capacity Universal Test Machine capable of testing up to the largest reinforcing bar (#18/57mm); HMA Superpave equipment including Gyratory Compactor and Hamburg Wheel Track, Kneading Compactor, Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) apparatus, among others. The in-house capabilities include testing of all materials encountered in roadway and structure construction. We carry the California Profilograph for roadway pavement smoothness testing.

Sequoia maintains several mobile laboratories that are comprehensively equipped and certified for HMA and JPCP/RSC paving operations. We also have setup stationary onsite laboratory units at numerous jobsites that require quick testing turnaround times. We provide onsite laboratory facilities to any project, based on its unique requirements and circumstances.
