The improvements to Taxiway “C” at Long Beach Airport converted the old asphalt Runway 18L-34R pavement to a new concrete pavement. The project included the construction of new cross taxiways; demolition of existing runway shoulder and taxiway pavements; drainage and grading improvements; hydro-seeding of graded infield areas; new LED airfield signage and lighting improvements, and taxiway marking and signage to meet current FAA standards.

Our Role
Sequoia’s scope consisted of providing comprehensive quality control management, inspection and testing services for removal of asphalt concrete pavements (P-401) and asphalt leveling course (P-403) from the old Runway 18L-34R. Placing aggregate subbase (P-154), lime treated subgrade (P-155) and PCC pavement (P-501), AC pavement (P-401) and asphalt leveling course (P-403) shoulders. Sequoia maintained a QC staff of 11 full time inspectors and testers for the General Contractor, Coffman Specialties.
